It was a bright Sunday morning and I was at home after a hectic week at office. So I decided to declutter and organize my cupboard. After having my breakfast, I sat down with all my belongings, sorting out the ones which I had to discard. There were few dresses which I had bought last year only, but never wore them. So I decided to discard them. I also found some of my school uniforms which were safely kept in one corner. I picked them up and smiled to myself as it brought a lot of memories to my mind. But then I thought that they're not useful anymore and just occupied space. So I removed them as well. Then I got hold of a red dress which was lying beneath all other dresses. As I opened it to have a look, a flashback of memories came before my eyes which brought tears and a smile both at the same time.
SIX YEARS AGO,
Late at night while talking, we discussing each other's favourites. He was telling me about his favourite game, food, hobby and other things. Suddenly I asked, "What's your favourite colour?"
"RED", He replied.
"Issh, Red? I hate it. "
" What's yours?" He asked.
"BLACK"
"Black bhi kisi ka favourite hota hai kya? ", He asked.
"Haan, mera hai. "
"So where are we meeting tomorrow? "
"At the Blueberry Coffee Shop ", He said
"See you tomorrow then", said I
The very next evening I was waiting outside the coffee shop for him. Several things were crossing my mind and I was a bit nervous too. It was my first date after all; after officially being a "Couple".
I was getting anxious and so I texted him, "Where are you? I've already reached."
"RED DRESS? Not bad", came the reply.
I looked up immediately in search of him and found him standing right in front, on the other side of the road, wearing a black shirt. He looked absolutely amazing. I was mesmerized for a moment and grinned like an idiot. But then I controlled myself and got back to reality.
When he came up to me, he asked "Tumko toh Red pasand nahi hai na?"
I just blushed in response.
"Kisi ko impress karna hai?, said he.
"Aur tumko kisko impress karna hai? ", I asked.
And we both started laughing.
" Tabse sab faila ke baithi hai. Jaldi kaam khatam kar",my mother screamed as she broke my reminiscence.
"Haan, bas ho gaya" I replied.
"What's that? " she asked pointing towards the red dress in my hand.
"Nothing Maa"
"Woh toh bohat purana ho chuka hai, hata de", she said.
"No. I'll keep it"
"But what's so special about it ? You toh don't even like red?, she enquired.
And as I placed that dress back into my cupboard, I thought to myself, "Only my heart knows what's so special about that RED DRESS."
